Belarusian Christmas in London
SATURDAY 20 DECEMBER 2008, 2pm
Anglo-Belarusian Society invites everyone to the traditional Kaliady (Christmas) celebration with entertainment and refreshment to Belarusian Religious and Cultural Centre (39 Holden Road, London N12 8HS).
There will be a talk “English Mummers and Their Plays” by Maja Skara, and a well-loved batlejka (Belarusian Christmas puppet show) given by Paul Šaǔcoǔ. How will he give the traditional story a modern twist this year? Come and find out.
Saint Nicolas will be giving out presents, so please, if you are coming with children, make sure to have a present prepared for each child and hand it over to Paul before the performance. Be prepared to sing (and listen to) Belarusian and English carols! All offers of traditional seasonal food and drink – both Belarusian and English – will be gratefully received.
